La Araña (“The Spider”) is a march for young band, imitating a Spanish musical style. It was written at the request of my brother-in-law, Thomas McNair, who leads the Webb Middle School band program in Tampa, Florida. The title takes its inspiration from the school mascot, the spider. La Araña is roughly equivalent to a Grade 2 difficulty level, and suitable for advanced 7th or 8th-grade ensembles.
