On March 23rd at 3:00 PM, I’ll be appearing in recital at Walker Chapel UMC in Arlington VA. I will be playing the Meditation from Thais by Massenet with Harpist Madeline Jarzembak. I’d love to see you there!

Both performances are free and open to the public.

I will once again be attending the ATW (March 20-24), so please stop by and say hi. Also, if you’re in town for the workshop, check out one (or both!) of my solo performances listed above.

New Pieces!

Concertos for Trumpet and Bass Trombone

I’m excited to share that I’ve just written a trumpet concerto called Cavallo Libero. It’s a dramatic and lyrical showpiece for solo trumpet and wind ensemble that I hope players will find challenging and fun. Please take a listen - the score and parts will be ready for purchase very shortly!

I’m also thrilled to be writing a concerto for bass trombone and orchestra which I’m calling Concerto in Giallo. The work is an homage to the groundbreaking artists in the Italian avant-garde film movement known as Giallo. The moody, gothic, and synth-laced scores by Claudio Simonetti, Bruno Nicolai, and others provide inispiration for what I believe will be a powerful, crowd-pleasing addition to the repertoire. Eyeing a completion date mid-fall of 2023, this piece will show off the solo bass trombone in all its tenderness, brawn, and operatic extravagance!

This year I’ll be attending the American Trombone Workshop in Washington DC - please come by and say hello if you happen to be there. I will have my music available in the exhibit hall and will also have the honor of serving as a panelist for the National Solo Competition (Tenor Category) on the 9th. Can’t wait to hear some great playing! Find out more about the Workshop here:

Premiere Date Set for Caprice

In other news, my new piece for solo piccolo and flute choir will be premiered on April 13th in The Villages, FL. My mother-in-law Julie Waller will be the soloist and my family will be joining. Coincidentally, April 13 is my wife’s and my fourth anniversary and it will be great to see everyone again.

Coming Soon…

Look for information on a new piece for trumpet and orchestra/band. I’m in the final stages of work on Il Cavallo Sfrenato (“The Unbridled Horse”), and I’m looking forward to sharing it with the world!

New pieces for 2023!

I’ve added two new pieces to my catalogue for January of 2023 - one is called Caprice (for Solo Piccolo and Flute Choir) and the other is Round Trip (for Alto Saxophone and Marimba). I’m thrilled to announce that Round Trip had a succesful premiere on January 14th at the International Saxophone Symposium in Washington, DC. The piece was written for Jonathan Yanik and percussionist Joseph Gonzalez, who gave it its first performance. More information about the event can be found here:

I’ll be sure to have the live recording up on the site as soon as it is available.
