Lake Effects was originally composed for Trombone Octet and premiered at the International Trombone Festival in Rochester, NY by the Great Lakes Trombone Ensemble. Over the years it has become a staple of the collegiate trombone choir repertoire, and was recorded by Dr. Bradley Palmer and the Southeast Trombone Symposium Professors' Choir on their inaugural commercial album, "Legacy." In 2024, the work was adapted for full symphonic band with the addition of some introductory material. The new work makes full use of the near-limitless color palette of the wind ensemble.
